Lent: Romans // Mar 2026
Sunday 29 March Jules closes out our Lent series in Romans by looking at the beautiful reality that nothing can separate us from the love of God and how living from that truth enables us to live as "more than conquerors". Jules provides a vulnerable and honest account of her journey through the grief which has become the crucible in which she learned Paul's teaching to be profoundly and personally true.
Sunday 22 March Jonah focuses upon Romans 8: 12-27 and highlights St Pauls contention that there is a groan deep in each of us and on display in the world around us. But our culture is perfectly designed to dull the groans of our heart. Whether that’s with food, distraction or addiction. How to recover the commitment to groan as adopted children, with the Holy Spirit and anticipation for God’s inbreaking Kingdom.
Sunday 15 March Georgi continues our exploration of Romans with Romans 6:1-12. Paul is encouraging the church to no longer be slaves to sin but live in the freedom we receive through baptism in Him.
Sunday 8 Mar What are the implications for the belief that we are justified by faith? This phrase typically conjures up explorations of a mechanism of freedom. However, in this talk, Pete Davies explores the idea that God does what we cannot do. This enables us to live lives of vulnerability and liberation. This liberating power leads us out of our sin and shame through the freeing act of confession, in the presence of a loving God and his faithful people.
Sunday 1 Mar Jonah begins our Lent series focusing upon Romans. In one of the most famous verses of the book, Paul claims “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” But what does this actually mean? What glory have we fallen short of and why is this important to a community in social upheaval? Jonah unpacks the social context and then extorts us to live a life of vocational glory, not falling prey to a subtle functional deism that relegates glory to the end of time and our lives to a task of sin-management.
