One of core ways we hope to seek God’s renewal in the region is through establishing “redemptive enterprises” that can help play a part in ending cycles of poverty or marginalisation. In the years to come we hope to have a diverse ecology of these small enterprises that create opportunities for mentoring, up-skilling and employment. We hope these enterprises can be profit-making in order to be self-sustaining.

Holy Fool Coffee is our first experiment in building a redemptive enterprise. Renovated by the super-talented @groundedhome from an old dropside Mitsubishi Carry, this little van makes its way around local villages (currently: Tedburn, Ide and Dunsford) serving speciality coffee to local people. You can follow its movements by following its Instagram page: @holyfoolcoffee

Our hopes for the project are layered: to serve great coffee; to meet new people and build community over a brew; and, in due course, we hope to employ someone exiting prison and support their reintegration into society. Before we do this, we need to make sure HF is a stable business able to support them consistently.

Holy Fool’s start up costs were paid for by St Basil’s Church and any profits go straight back into funding and growing the Holy Fool project.

If you have enquiries about Holy Fool or interested in booking the van for an event you are running, please email Liz who oversees HF.
