Our life filled with His life // April/May 2025

Sunday 25 May We were privileged to have Revd Dr James Harding continue our series on the Holy Spirit, looking at how the Spirit gives gifts. Drawing on scripture and the incredible testimony of his own family history, James stirred faith in us and encouraged us to come to God with a hunger to be filled to overflowing.

Sunday 18th May Jonah continues our series on a living, breathing theology of the Holy Spirit. We long to be led and guided by the Spirit however, fear, anxiety and grief often overwhelm us and we find ourselves grasping for control and as we turn to God our motivation can be an attempt to control our future rather than discover his faithfulness in the present. If we long to know how the Holy Spirit guides us, we must first and foremost learn to long for and meet with Jesus’s presence in the present moment.

Sunday 11 May Pete James continues our series on the Holy Spirit by diving into Galatians to understand how the Holy Spirit bears fruit in our lives. Contrasting to works of the flesh, Pete encourages us to stop working harder and harder to change and instead become "gardeners" who make our lives a great habitat for the fruit of the Spirit to grow: to fashion our lives into one big "yes" to the Holy Spirit.

Sunday 4 May In the second talk of the series, Dan encourages us that the Spirit will empower us to witness to Jesus and be obedient to the Father when we seek to keep in step with Him in an ongoing trusting relationship.

Sunday 27 April Becky kicks off our new series, "Our Life, Filled with His Life: A Living, Breathing Theology of the Holy Spirit”, with an overview of the Holy Spirit’s role throughout the biblical narrative, focusing on the promise of His presence in light of Jesus’ resurrection and the sending of the Spirit. Becky then explores how the Holy Spirit brings revelation into our lives by examining the story of John the Baptist—how the Spirit revealed the coming Messiah to him, and how John partnered with the Spirit to steward that revelation and proclaim it to the world.
