FAQs
What safeguarding measures are in place for a beach trip?
Following government and diocesan best practice guidance, for every 8 children on a trip there is one adult supervising and that adult will have an enhanced DBS check through St Basil’s Church. For a child to attend an Inlanders Beach Trip their parent or guardian will need to have signed a consent form which will be emailed after the booking is made.
The surf lessons will always be booked with an ISA qualified surf instructor with their own safeguarding practices and insurance.
There will be one qualified first aider on each trip.
Can parents come on the beach trips?
We are open to parents attending a trip should this be their – or their child’s – preference. However, space in the transport provided is limited and it may involve using your own transport. Attendance by a parent should be discussed with the St Basil’s team in advance.
I am not a Christian, can I still come?
Absolutely! We are passionate about Jesus and believe he is good news for all. On each trip someone is invited to share their personal story of how they came to faith in Jesus and the difference he makes in their life. However, there is no pressure to share that belief and people from all backgrounds are welcome to come and join in.
How is the price of a ticket calculated?
St Basil’s does not make a profit from these trips. Indeed, we heavily subsidise the beach trip tickets to enable children from all backgrounds to be able to attend. The full cost of a ticket is approximately £35. We plan to sell organic, sustainable and affordable surf clothing to help us keep tickets at this price.
What do I need to bring on a trip?
Swimming costumes, a towel and warm clothes as well as any personal medication required.
