Easter
Here at St Basil’s we don’t want to ‘rush to Easter Sunday’. Instead, we want to enter into the dramatic actions of Jesus’ journey from the garden to the cross to the grave and pause to feel their significance before celebrating the risen King on Easter Sunday!
Maundy Thursday
8-10pm | Church Office
On the night before Jesus died, he went to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane and took with him some of the disciples. This is the setting of Jesus' great wrestle with the reality off the cross to come and the moment of his great prayer: ‘yet not my will be done but yours’.
To mark this moment in the journey to the cross we are gathering for silent prayer to meditate on the agony of the garden and what this great moment of surrender means for us.
The office will be open for private prayer between 8pm and 10pm and will take place in silence other than the reading of scripture at 8pm and 9pm. If you've never sat in silence for this long before (not many have!) please don't worry you can come and be present for as long as you can handle and then go!
The main advice: bring a Bible so you can read and reflect.
Location: Church offices, Unit 6 Dunchideock Barton, EX2 9UA. Drop pin here.
Good Friday
12-1pm | Windout Farm
We are gathering on Good Friday for an ‘hour at the cross’ – a more reflective service of worship, prayer and a short talk focussed on the cross of Jesus.
This will be held at 12-1pm by the prayer cabin, outside in the orchard. Children are welcome and we will have some craft activities for them to do, however it will be a quieter service of reflection.
Location: Windout Farm, Tedburn St Mary, EX6 6DR. Drop pin here. Please park in the top car park and walk down to the prayer cabin
Easter Sunday
10am | Teign Valley Community Hall
Join us for an all-age Easter extravaganza at the Teign Valley Community Hall at 10am (café from 9.30am) as we gather to celebrate the risen Jesus!
Location: Teign Valley Community Hall, Christow, EX6 7WA. Drop pin here.
